Rumors
- Leafs Should Bring Back Pat Burns
- The axe finally fell on Paul Maurice yesterday. Fired. Relieved of his duties. Released. Not exactly what I would call earth-shattering news. We all saw this one coming from a kilometer away. What about brining back Pat Burns.?
- Canadiens Lose To Bruins
- The Montreal Canadiens lost to the Boston Bruins 5-1 tonight at the Bell Centre, in a game which should have had the Habs play with the intent to close out the series, but the Habs had other plans.
- Devils Top Isles in OT 2-1
- Islander's goalie Joey McDonald put on an exemplary performance last night, turning aside 45 shots in a 2-1 OT loss to the New Jersey Devils.
- Isles Topple Devils 3-1
- What a beginning to Kyle Okposo's career. The highly touted prospect of the New York Islanders scored his first NHL goal last night (the Game Winning goal, no less) and contributed an assist in the Islanders' 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils last night at the Prudential Center. The win broke New York's losing streak at 6 games. Blake Comeau and Trent Hunter (empty netter) also contributed goals for the Islanders. Travis Zajac tallied for the Devils.
- Smith, Gauthier, Malkin, Capitals, Lecavalier, Senators, and Lucic
- Did the Flyers try to trade Jason Smith? Will Flyers place Dennis Gauthier on waivers? Would Penguins trade Evgeni Malkin if he becomes too pricey? Are the Capitals expecting to re-sign any of their trade deadline pick-ups? Is Vincent Lecavalier in line for a new contract? Will Senators have to trade Ray Emery to make room for free agent signings? Have the teams been calling the Bruins about Milan Lucic?
Transactions
- Drake hangs ‘em up
- The hard hitting Detroit Red Wings forward Dallas Drake from Trail, B.C., Canada announced his retirement from hockey after playing 16 seasons in the NHL.
- Nolan Out as Isles Coach
- Ted Nolan and the New York Islanders officially parted company today in a move that has been brewing for months. GM Garth Snow announced that he will immediately begin searching for a replacement and has several candidates in mind.
- Georges Laraque, Alex Henry & Marc Denis on their way to Montreal
- Great additions to the Montreal Canadiens roster. How good are they and what could they bring for the Habs' organization?
- The Habs lose Ryder, Streit and Danis and perhaps even the hopes for Sundin.
- So Michael Ryder is gone for good with The Boston Bruins and Mark Streit and Yann Danis left for the New-York Islanders. What do all these players have in common? None of them received an offer from The Montreal Canadiens. But wait, Mats Sundin did. Too bad this guy is l.o.s.t.!
- Mikhail Grabovski To Leafs
- Mikhail Grabovski is no longer a player from the Montreal Canadiens. Now just guess where he is now!
